Chemist emulsions (Cetaphil, CeraVe, E45)
Solid, cheap, basic moisturisers. If price is your main concern, buy them — we genuinely mean that. Wellswood costs more because it is a small-batch NZ cream with UMF 20+ Manuka honey in it, not a mass-market emulsion.
MooGoo
An Australian brand that owns a lot of 'eczema cream NZ' search with a cheaper cream. Good marketing, decent product. Wellswood is NZ-made with honey and lanolin in one cream — buy us for that, not to win on dollars.
NZ manuka balms and oils (Svens Island, ManukaRX and friends)
Most 'manuka' skincare is leaf oil or an oil-based balm with manuka on the label. Wellswood is different: actual UMF 20+ Manuka honey in a water-based cream. You can smell the honey.
Tallow balms
Beef tallow is having a moment. Tallow balms are pure fat — occlusive, heavy, and some people love them. Wellswood is a water-based cream: it hydrates first, then lanolin locks that water in. Different tool.
Oatmeal creams (Hope's Relief, Dermaveen)
Colloidal oatmeal is a respectable itch-soothing ingredient. If oatmeal works for you, carry on. If it hasn't been enough, honey plus lanolin is a genuinely different approach worth a tube.
When Wellswood is the right call
You want one NZ-made, fragrance-free, steroid-free cream with real UMF 20+ Manuka honey and pure NZ lanolin — for dry, itchy, sensitive, eczema-prone skin on the face, hands and body. $52.30 a tube, $47 in the 3-pack, free NZ shipping on the 3-pack.
